How to host a watch party online

Hosting a watch party is part movie night, part get-together. Bring a good pick, a small guest list and a clear invite, and LofiCouch handles the rest: a private room for you and up to three others, in exact frame-by-frame sync with voice and text chat.

Pick the kind of night

A movie date for two can be simple: a time, a title and a private room. For a group of friends, a quick "can you open this?" message before the night keeps everyone together. Keep a backup title in your pocket.

For two couples, try the online double-date ideas and four-person plan.

Check access before sending invitations

YouTube and Google Drive play right in LofiCouch on any device. Netflix, Prime Video, JioHotstar and Crunchyroll join on desktop with the free extension, with each person on their own account.

For Drive, share the video publicly so it can stream, and use videos you own or have permission to share. The file keeps its own sharing settings in Drive.

If someone is joining on a phone, use the phone watch-together guide to choose the source and device setup.

Create the room and send a useful invite

Sign in to LofiCouch and open your room, then send the code or invitation link to your guests.

A good invite says when, what you are watching and whether to bring a laptop for the extension. Everyone signs in to join, and streaming-service guests watch on their own account.

Make the first few minutes easy

  1. Gather in the room

Say hi on voice chat as everyone arrives.

  2. Check the title

Make sure it opens for everyone.

  3. Test the sound

Headphones keep it cozy and clear.

  4. Hand over the remote

    The host leads playback.

  5. Set the house rules

Agree on snack breaks and quiet scenes.

Keep the next choice simple

Line up tonight's picks before the night. A short first video is a fun warm-up before the main film.

If something does not work

Check your internet connection and refresh the room first. Then check that everyone is signed in and the title is available, and that the extension is added if you need it. If you write to us, include the device, browser, service, extension version and the message you saw. Never share passwords, verification codes or private room codes in public.

Hosting questions

Is hosting free?

Yes. Hosting is free with no credit card, and so is the extension. Streaming subscriptions stay with each person.

How many people can join?

Up to four, including the host. Small enough to hear everyone, big enough for your favorite people.

How do guests join?

They sign in and tap your room link or enter your code. Signing in keeps your room to the people you invited.
